About Rachel

I was born in Melbourne and spent my early years growing up there. I first moved into Prospect with my family in 1983 and have lived in and around the electorate of Adelaide for over 30 years now. I was educated at St Peter's Collegiate Girls' School before studying Accounting at the University of South Australia.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Accounting), I went on to work for a Chartered Accountant gaining experience in Tax, Audit and Business Services. Following this I worked for a Finishing School and then a Modelling Agency as the Financial Manager, prior to establishing my own modelling agency and training school, Rachel's Model Management, in 1994. Originally based from my home, I then moved my business to O'Connell Street North Adelaide, then to North Terrace Adelaide and then to Melbourne Street in North Adelaide where the business stayed until sold in April 2013.

In 2008 my career changed direction when I was preselected as the Liberal candidate for the state seat of Adelaide. I was elected as the Member for Adelaide on 20 March 2010 after defeating former Labor Minister, Jane Lomax-Smith with a swing of 14.7%.

Since winning the seat I have worked tirelessly to advocate for a better deal for my constituents, schools and small businesses. Living in the area, I am highly involved in the community and a member of various local community groups including the Prospect Blair Athol Lions Club, Friends of Prospect Library, Walkerville Historical Society, The North Adelaide Society and Neighbourhood Watch to name just a few. I am also proudly involved with Meals on Wheels and regularly deliver meals to local constituents.

I recognise that education and the lack of public High Schools is a long standing issue in the electorate. This is why I am fighting hard to establish a second campus of Adelaide High School, as well as rezoning the school to include the residents of Prospect and Walkerville.

Having owned an award-winning business in the electorate for over 18 years, I understand the problems small businesses face in the highest taxed state in Australia and I am passionate about ensuring business conditions in SA are competitive with other states.

It is a priority for me to be able to help my constituents on an individual basis. I am committed to helping everyone that contacts me no matter the issue so please do not hesitate to contact me.

"What you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe and enthusiastically act upon must inevitably come to pass" - Paul J. Meyer.
