Changes to Bus Timetables on 1 July 2012

Last year the State Government issued contracts to three private companies to operate bus services in Metropolitan Adelaide. Since then there have been many issues with buses running late or sometimes not at all. In response to public outcry the Transport Department has spent over $3m developing new timetables to try and solve the problem.

The new timetables come into effect on Sunday 1 July 2012 and with changes made to 86 of the 97 Adelaide Metro timetables it's likely to affect you. The changes are designed to give a more accurate representation of arrival and travel times.

To find out if your service has changed there are a number of ways you can do that:

  • Adelaide Metro website
  • Adelaide Metro InfoCentre, corner King William an Currie Streets in the city
  • Signage will be placed at around 3,500 affected stops detailing changes
  • InfoTeams will be at interchanges and shopping centres handing out revised timetables

Another measure the State Government is taking to reduce travel times is dedicated priority bus lanes from West Terrace to East Terrace along Currie and Grenfell streets. These lanes will be for the exclusive use of buses between 7am and 7pm Monday to Friday. Drivers are reminded to treat these bus lanes like any others around the State.

If you have any feedback about either the new bus timetables or the Currie-Grenfell Priority Bus Lanes please contact the Adelaide Electorate Office on 8269 1838

Recycle Right

Spring is the time to get your green bin in order. What you put in your green bin can be used to benefit the environment and the economy in South Australia. However, when you put something in the green bin, it is important not to apply the old saying "out of sight, out of mind". The material in your green bin gets a second life through composting.

Between 2009 and 2010, 220,000 tonnes of organics were recovered for reprocessing in South Australia - mainly collected from Council green bins at the kerbside. This puts a great deal of nutrients back into the soil that would be otherwise lost to landfill.

For further information about what can and cannot be composted please visit the Zero Waste web site here.
