Liberal Government says “thank you” to foster and kinship carers

The Marshall Liberal Government is this week celebrating the state’s selfless and hardworking foster and kinship carers during 2018 National Foster and Kinship Care Week.

Minister for Child Protection Rachel Sanderson said she wanted to take the opportunity to thank “each and every foster and kinship carer in South Australia”.

State Government makes child protection a priority

The Marshall Liberal Government is committed to protecting the state’s most vulnerable children and young people providing additional funding in the 2018-19 State Budget.

Operation Flinders Quiz Night 2018

I am proud to have been able to sponsor a number of young people to attend the award-winning Operation Flinders exercises which are held in the Flinders Ranges several times each year. This program offers a new direction for young people at risk and has been transforming lives for 25 years.

Marshall Government honours 100-day child protection agreement

The Marshall Government has delivered on its 100-day commitment to extend foster care payments for young people up to 21 years of age and broaden the qualifications accepted for child protection workers to help fill dozens of vacancies.

Remembrance Day at Walkerville Memorial Garden

On Wednesday, November 11th, 2015, Rachel attended the Remembrance Day Ceremony at Walkerville Memorial Garden. This year it makes the 97th anniversary of the end of World War I.

Neighbour Day is Australia’s annual celebration of community, encouraging people to connect with those who live in their neighbourhood.

 

The Big Issue CEO Selling Challenge

Rachel joined Big Issue Vendor, Vernon, on Monday, 1 February outside the Body Shop at Rundle Mall to sell copies of The Big Issue. This is the second year that Rachel has participated in the CEO Selling Challenge to show her support and to take a stand against homelessness and disadvantage.

Adelaide Pongal 2017 Harvest Festival

On January 15 2017 Rachel attended the Adelaide Pongal Harvest Festival, organised by the Adelaide Tamil Association in Bonython Park.

 

Adelaide White Ribbon Breakfast

White Ribbon Australia’s campaign asks people to stand up, speak out and act to prevent men’s violence against women. As the Shadow Minister for Families and Child Protection and Social Housing, Rachel is faced with some harsh realities of domestic violence while she works to assist those experiencing domestic violence.
