Neighbour Day is Australia’s annual celebration of community, encouraging people to connect with those who live in their neighbourhood.
Rachel joined Big Issue Vendor, Vernon, on Monday, 1 February outside the Body Shop at Rundle Mall to sell copies of The Big Issue. This is the second year that Rachel has participated in the CEO Selling Challenge to show her support and to take a stand against homelessness and disadvantage.
On January 15 2017 Rachel attended the Adelaide Pongal Harvest Festival, organised by the Adelaide Tamil Association in Bonython Park.
White Ribbon Australia’s campaign asks people to stand up, speak out and act to prevent men’s violence against women. As the Shadow Minister for Families and Child Protection and Social Housing, Rachel is faced with some harsh realities of domestic violence while she works to assist those experiencing domestic violence.
For the past 3 years Rachel has been supporting Operation Flinders by setting up a Prospect Chapter and raising money to support 10 local youth aged 14-17 years old to participate in the Operations Flinders program.
Each year Rachel looks forward to attending as many School graduations and special events in her electorate as she can.
On Sunday, 25 October 2015 Rachel joined the Greek Orthodox Community SA and laid a wreath to commemorate Greek National Day at the Cathedral of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel.
